Absoft toasts success of new deal with brewing major

Specialist IT consultancy Absoft Limited has struck a £600,000 deal with Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, for the provision of SAP support services across its entire business.

The 5-year contract with Shepherd Neame is the latest in a string of lucrative deals with customers south of the border that have helped boost Absoft’s books by more than £1 million in the past 12 months. This follows a successful drive to increase Absoft’s business portfolio nationally.

The agreement has seen Absoft, one of the largest independent SAP consultancies in the UK, deliver initial onsite support for Shepherd Neame’s newly implemented SAP ERP 6.0 system. With the system now fully operational, Absoft will continue to provide help-desk support for the company’s key SAP business systems covering finance, human resources, payroll, sales and distribution, production planning, warehousing and procurement. As part of the contract, Absoft will also assume the role of Shepherd Neame’s SAP reseller, managing the company’s SAP relationship and software licensing agreements.

Absoft’s Managing Director, Ian Mechie, said: “This contract is further evidence of Absoft’s growing presence in the manufacturing sector, which has seen us net a significant number of contracts within recent months and contributed to one of the most exciting periods of growth in the company’s 20-year history.

“The recent decision to restructure the business to form dedicated industry divisions is paying big dividends. We now have the basis for becoming further established on a nationwide level, across a range of business sectors and it is our goal to maintain that impetus over the coming year.”

Jonathan Neame, Chief Executive of Shepherd Neame said: “Long-term partnership potential was a key component of the selection criteria when choosing our SAP support partner. We were also attracted to the flexibility of Absoft’s SAP support service, which enables us to purchase extra hours or carry them over to even out peaks and troughs in support activity.

“There is an excellent fit between the operating cultures of Absoft and Shepherd Neame and we look forward to maintaining a productive working relationship in the years to come.”
