Chevron is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies. In the UK, Chevron covers a broad spectrum of business, from finding and extracting oil and gas, to refinery operations and selling refined products. Chevron Upstream Europe (CUE), in particular, has interests in eleven fields producing oil and gas on the continental shelf.

Absoft was commissioned to carry out an audit of Chevron Upstream Europe’s (CUE) SAP maintenance planning systems, as it was recognised there was room for improvement in this area.

Motivated partly by the recommendations arising from the audit and partly by the introduction of new global standards at CUE; the company decided that a formal specification should be developed for a new maintenance planning tool in SAP.

Absoft designed and implemented the tool based on a White Paper, which detailed Chevron’s requirements. The new tool has increased efficiency so that maintenance planners have more time to focus on key aspects of their job and the main planning process is now more strategically driven.
