Seminar - Absoft establishes new oil and gas plant maintenance and operations forum

Absoft’s oil and gas team  hosted a lunchtime forum focusing on SAP plant maintenance and operations reports on Thursday, 10 June at our Bridge of Don office.

A number of companies including major operators attended the event, which was aimed at maintenance and asset integrity decision makers in the oil and gas business community.

The event  kicked off with an open discussion on current plant maintenance and operational issues. Absoft senior SAP plant maintenance consultant Martin Kelly, took the discussion forward to focus on overcoming particular challenges – such as KPI and SCE reporting - through the custom built solutions that Absoft  has implemented for mainstream oil and gas operators. Martin  also outlined how Absoft’s catalogue of SAP reporting enhancements may be adapted to provide individual, cost-effective plant maintenance and operations reporting solutions.

Absoft oil and gas sales manager Tim Galloway says: “The forum is the first of its kind in the region and has been initiated in response to demand from Absoft’s client base. While Absoft will act as the meeting facilitator, the idea is that future agendas will be driven by the companies that take part.

“SAP is used by a significant number of energy companies and it was felt that creating an arena for discussion of good practice and topical issues would be useful for all concerned and help businesses to make the most of their software investment.

“Everyone who comes along  to these forums will have a chance to hear from and question SAP experts, as well as take part in problem-solving discussions with fellow maintenance and operations professionals from other companies.”

It is anticipated that the forum will be held quarterly, in rotation with Absoft’s existing oil and gas supply chain forum, which was created for the upstream oil and gas supply chain in 2007.
