Supply Chain Management and plant maintenance Forums

SAP software is used by a significant number of energy companies in the greater Aberdeen area, but until recently those businesses lacked a networking arena where they could discuss common experiences and issues around SAP supply chain management and plant maintenance.

After receiving requests from a number of our clients Absoft decided to co-ordinate the formation of two networking groups - the Supply Chain Management Forum and the Plant Maintenance Forum.

The aim of both Forums is to help member businesses make the most of SAP business software by facilitating them to share SCM and plant maintenance best practice and discuss  supply chain and plant maintenance issues related to the upstream oil and gas industry issues.

Tim Galloway, oil and gas sales manager at Absoft, says: "We felt that creating an arena where good practice and topical issues could be discussed would be useful, helping businesses to make the most of their investment in the system.

"While we at Absoft will act as facilitator, the idea is that agendas for the forums will be driven by the companies that take part."

The Forums provide a uniquely cost-effective and socially enjoyable means for businesses to make the most of their SAP software investment. They are held quarterly, in rotation, at Absoft's Aberdeen offices, and take place from lunchtime until mid-afternoon. A buffet lunch is provided by Absoft before the meetings begin.

Meetings are regularly attended by leading industry players including ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Total, Hydrocarbon Resources Limited, Subsea 7, and Nexen.
