Supply Chain Management Forum

SAP software is used by a significant number of energy companies in the greater Aberdeen area, but until recently those businesses lacked a networking arena where they could discuss common experiences and issues around SAP supply chain management.

After receiving requests from a number of our clients Absoft decided to co-ordinate the formation of a networking group - the Supply Chain Management Forum.  The aim of the forum is:

‘To help member businesses make the most of SAP business software by facilitating them to share SCM best practice and discuss the supply chain issues in the upstream oil and gas industry related issues.’

The inaugural meeting of the Forum was held at Absoft’s offices in June 2007. The meeting was well-attended, and resolved that:

  • Absoft would continue to act as facilitator for the Supply Chain Management Forum
  • The Forum would be driven by the participating companies
  • Monthly meetings would be hosted in rotation by participating companies
  • The topic would alternate between pain points and sharing of SCM best practice

The Supply Chain Management Forum provides a uniquely cost-effective and socially enjoyable means for businesses to make the most of their SAP software investment.

Meetings are regularly attended by leading industry players including ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Total, Hydrocarbon Resources Limited, Subsea 7, KCA Deutag and Nexen.
