Absoft Annual Entrepreneurship LectureAberdeen Business School
We are delighted to announce that the annual Absoft Entrepreneurship Lecture will take place at Aberdeen Business School on Thursday 13th February 2014.
Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne, the founder of Genius Gluten Free Foods, will deliver the Entrepreneurship Lecture and share her entrepreneurial story with an audience of up to 300 students at Aberdeen Business School.
Having spent 5 years perfecting the loaf of gluten-free bread she had invented for the two of her three children, who have food allergies. The children would often come home from school to find 14 different loaves of bread waiting for them to try. She even broke her oven in the process. She refused to accept that due to her sons' restricted diet they should miss out on the pleasure that the rest of the family had from food. That bread recipe became Genius Foods in 2009.
Genius broke into the North American market and sells products in Spain through a deal with Carrefour, and has recently begun selling its innovative products in Holland. Genius gluten-free sandwiches are also available in Caffe Nero and Starbucks.
Lucinda sits on the Board at Genius as a Director and spends a great deal of time in the kitchen developing pioneering and tasty new products. In addition she acts as brand ambassador for the company.
She was recently appointed to the Board of the Entrepreneurial Exchange in Scotland after winning the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year category at the organisation’s awards in 2011. Last year proved a dynamic 12 months for Genius, which was recognised by the business community with a number of high profile award wins for Lucinda and her team.
Lucinda won the acclaimed Ernst & Young UK Emerging Entrpreneur of the Year Award 2012, was named the Private Businesswoman of the Year for 2012 by PwC in their Private Business Awards, and she also won the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award in the 2012 business category. Genius was awarded The Grocer magazine’s prestigious Best New Product Award in the Special Diet category for 2012 with the Genius Seeded Loaf.
