Absoft gears up for growth as global business software firm targets market rise
Scottish software solutions expert Absoft Limited is set to play a key role in plans by SAP, the world’s leading provider of business software, to implement an ambitious UK growth strategy targeting midmarket companies.
One of the largest and longest-established independent SAP consultancies in the UK, Absoft is a specialist supplier of the leading business software package designed to help companies enhance their corporate performance.
Globally, SAP has set itself ambitious goals of doubling its revenue and increasing its customer base from 32,000 to 100,000 by 2010.
The UK’s small and midsize business (SMB) market represents an important part of that goal, with the company aiming to increase the percentage of licence revenue derived from midmarket customers to over 40% from the current 35%.
As a partner of SAP focusing on the upstream and downstream oil and gas midmarket, Absoft is central to SAP’s growth ambitions in the UK. The Aberdeen-based firm aims to capture a 10% share of the oil and gas SMB sector within the next three years.

Absoft has invested significantly in its own SAP-based products including a human capital management solution – Advantage HCM for Oil and Gas – to address the specific people-related challenges currently facing the upstream oil and gas industry firms, such as talent pool and competency management, resource logistics management and workforce utilisation.
The company also offers a comprehensive range of solutions and services for the downstream oil and gas sector, including secondary distribution management and terminal automation.

The list, announced in November, identifies the country’s fastest growing technology firms based on revenue growth over five years.
