Local charity gets IT benefits from Absoft sponsorship deal
Local IT services company Absoft have agreed a sponsorship deal with Aberdeen Foyer, involving the donation of IT equipment and provision of IT support services. Donated PCs will be used to provide Internet access from the Foyer’s different accommodation sites, throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. Through their “Advance” IT Management services, Absoft will maintain and develop Aberdeen Foyer’s IT infrastructure.
“Good IT facilities are important to the Foyer both in terms of running the organisation efficiently and providing access to IT for tenants and other young people who seek help from us,” said Ken Milroy, Director of Aberdeen Foyer. “Absoft’s sponsorship is an innovative, practical way of lending support and I’m delighted they chose to link up with us in this way.”
Former Foyer tenant and editor of a European news magazine, Chris Stephen, retains strong links with the Foyer. He is enthusiastic about the prospect of gaining new IT facilities: “I’ve been working on developing my creative writing skills and having the use of a PC or laptop makes it so much easier for me to produce articles and poems.”
Absoft are this year celebrating 10 successful years in business. As their Business Development Director Frank Park explained, “We wanted to mark our anniversary by giving something back to the local community on a sponsorship basis. Our goal was to provide some practical help to a local organisation which would really benefit from our expertise. We found out about Aberdeen Foyer through a chance meeting at a Business Network event – and we immediately felt that a link up would be worthwhile. We are delighted to be working with the Foyer and look forward to developing our relationship into new areas over the long term.”
