Partnership approach reaps benefits for Wood Group
Aberdeen-based Wood Group Engineering have joined forces with local software company Absoft, to develop an offshore personnel management solution that will support their business into the new millennium.
The objective of the project is to replace a number of non-Year 2000 compliant, separate systems with a single, totally integrated solution to handle the complex tasks related to offshore personnel logistics, competency, training and recruitment.
Wood Group Engineering’s Human Resources department are set to gain significant benefits when the system goes live next month.
In true partnership style, Absoft and both the Human Resources and IT departments at Wood Group Engineering have been working closely together to ensure that the new system delivers the goods.
Wood Group Engineering IT Manager, Jim Titmuss, outlined the reasons behind adopting a collaborative approach to the project. “Absoft’s experience of integrated corporate systems, coupled with their strong project management and technical expertise, made them the ideal partner for us. The staff from both companies have worked very successfully together and we are confident of a smooth transition to the new system. We look forward to seeing the benefits in due course.“
Absoft Director Derek Reid, who played a key role in the project, sang the praises of the combined team. “It is a credit to both companies that we were able to turn a project of this size around in just 6 months. For Absoft, the project rounds off another successful financial year, during which many new clients and products have been added to a growing portfolio The company intends to incorporate the Wood Group Engineering system as the core module of a highly functional, integrated Offshore Personnel Logistics system, due for launch later this year.
