Talisman Energy (UK) Limited, the UK arm of the global oil and gas exploration company, has awarded a significant two-phase SAP software support contract to Aberdeen-based SAP consultancy, Absoft.
The five year contract, which is valued in the region of £500,000, covers a range of services to support Talisman Energy (UK)’s newly implemented SAP system. The new SAP system, which supports the company’s Finance and Joint Venture Accounting business operations, is due to go live in the first quarter of 2005. Absoft fended off substantial competition from other IT service organisations to secure this significant support contract, which will be spread across two phases.
Working in close partnership with Talisman’s information systems support team, Absoft’s consultants will be providing on-site support combined with the necessary knowledge transfer, during the initial transitional phase of the contract. Phase two will see the on-site element of Absoft’s service provision replaced by ‘remote’ off-site support delivered from the company’s SAP Support Centre in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, as Talisman’s Information Systems team take on the on-site support responsibility.
