Operators and oilfield service firms are being invited to a forum investigating new approaches to tackling oil and gas industry supply chain issues, using SAP business software, in Aberdeen.
Aimed at supply chain decision makers, the event will be hosted byspecialist software consultancy Absoft, one of the largest independent SAP providers in the UK, at the company’s headquarters in Aberdeen.
Catherine Reynolds, customer relationship manager, at Absoft, who will facilitate the workshop, says, “This meeting is part of a regular series of open forums designed to give the oil and gas business community a chance to discuss common issues and hear from Absoft’s SAP experts who will lead discussions on how to get the most from SAP systems.”
The session will begin by looking at improving plant maintenance scheduling, referring to a new reporting format developed and implemented by Absoft for an oil and gas operator. The report provides plant and maintenance materials teams with an improved overview of the status of all work orders needed to complete their operations, increasing efficiency and minimising the risk of associated supply chain problems.
With the offshore industry relying heavily on rental equipment mobilised to offshore installations, the session will go on to focus on equipment rentals tracking, using practical examples from projects that Absoft has implemented.
Catherine Reynolds adds: “We will take into consideration the different requirements of operators and service companies: the operators need to track and validate the rental services provided to them, whereas the service companies have to track the equipment on the customer’s site to substantiate their billing.”
