Business software experts will provide advice to operators and oilfield service firms at an event in Aberdeen highlighting how companies can improve profitability by effectively sharing and managing cost information across the business using SAP software.

The event is the first finance-focussed meeting in a series of forums organised by specialist software consultancy Absoft, one of the leading independent SAP providers in the UK, aimed at giving upstream energy businesses using SAP software an opportunity to share best practice and discuss challenges with experts in the field.

Aimed at key decision makers and users of SAP finance software, the event, which is free to attend, will take place at Absoft’s headquarters at Aberdeen Innovation Park, Bridge of Don on Wednesday, February 13.

Delegates will hear from Karen Studley, a principal business analytics and technology consultant at Absoft. Ms Studley will provide advice on how to achieve cost visibility across a business by accessing departmental, maintenance and project cost data in the SAP system, and examine the best reporting and analytics tools to provide the necessary information and analysis.

Scott Simpson, a principal finance SAP consultant at Absoft, will then discuss and demonstrate how to use SAP to maximise cost recovery from joint ventures and joint venture partners, examining cost allocations, secondary costs, time writing set ups and cascade allocations.

Catherine Reynolds, customer relationship manager at Absoft who is facilitating the forum, says: “We have extended the theme of our forums to focus on SAP users in the finance department in response to popular demand as this is one of the areas in the energy sector where the software is most commonly used.

“It can be a challenge to manage complex operations, joint ventures and growth while keeping costs under control. This forum will give delegates an opportunity to see where they can enhance their use of SAP to improve profitability.”

The forum, which includes a buffet lunch, runs from 1.00pm to 3.30pm at Davidson House, Campus 1, Aberdeen Innovation Park, Balgownie Road.
