Thanks to the generosity of IT services company Absoft, local charity Aberdeen Foyer is now able to field a team of fully equipped 5-a-side footballers in the Sunday GOALS League at Inverdee.
Absoft have funded the provision of a full 5-a-side team kit – from shirts right down to water bottles.  Team manager Ian Dobson was delighted with the new kit: “This sort of practical help makes a big difference to us.  As the Foyer is a voluntary organisation, we had no way to pay for the equipment we need to play regularly as a team.  Absoft’s kit sponsorship has given these lads a real sense of identity and motivation, which we hope will help to build their confidence as well as their teamworking abilities.”
The team was established seven weeks ago following requests by the Foyer’s young people to set up regular football fixtures at weekends and in the evenings.  The eight players now train twice a week and compete in matches every Sunday.
In August last year, Absoft agreed a sponsorship deal with Aberdeen Foyer to support the charity’s work with the region’s disadvantaged young people.  This involved the donation of computer equipment for educational purposes, and the provision of an IT infrastructure support service that facilitates the efficient running of the organisation.
Absoft’s Business Development Director Frank Park commented: “We were delighted to be able to extend our sponsorship relationship with Aberdeen Foyer to include the kit provision, and hope that the youngsters will gain much enjoyment from their participation in the GOALS league.”
