Business leaders from across the region will gather in Aberdeen on Tuesday 15 March for The Robert Gordon Universityâs (RGU) 10th Entrepreneurship Lecture and Dinner. The theme of the events this year is âThe Triumphs and Challenges of an Entrepreneurâ. For the third year running, the Lecture and Dinner will be sponsored by Absoft â Scotlandâs number one specialist in SAP – the worldâs leading business software solution.
The lecture will be held at RGUâs prestigious Aberdeen Business School in Garthdee. The audience of over 300 RGU students and members of the business community will be addressed by Chris Gorman who has proven himself as a successful serial entrepreneur across a number of retail and technology businesses over the past 12 years.
Chrisâ first major success was as a founder shareholder in DX Communications. He then went on to found a new internet services company, Reality Group. Chrisâ next undertaking was to acquire The Gadget Shop and in August 2003, he led a team of investors to take over the ailing greeting cards retailer, Birthdays Ltd.
Chris has received many business awards for his serial entrepreneurialism and most recently received the Scottish Business Achievement Award Trust (SBAAT) Businessman of the Year Award 2004.
The Entrepreneurship dinner will be held at The Marcliffe at Pitfodels, where keynote speaker Chris Gorman will be joined by Iain Mechie, Managing Director of Absoft and Professor Bill McIntosh, Vice Principal at The Robert Gordon University.
On Absoftâs involvement in the events, Iain Mechie said, âAbsoft is delighted to be the sponsor of RGUâs Entrepreneurship Lecture and Dinner once again. In Chris Gorman we have a superb exponent of entrepreneurial flair whose achievements are truly outstanding. I feel sure that students, academics and business professionals alike will be inspired by his story.â
