Specialist software business Absoft has significantly extended its international reach in a year which has seen its dedicated oil & gas team secure nine new customers.
The Aberdeen-based SAP software consultancy has strengthened its foothold in the sector following the creation in 2008 of the team focused solely on energy-related activity.
Among its successes in 2009 was a six-figure contract with Portlethen-based specialist oilfield equipment provider Downhole Products Ltd – and a deal with its parent company Varel International which sees Absoft providing SAP support services in Australia, Mexico, Canada, France, US and the UK.
Division head Don Valentine said: “Securing a contract with Varel to support its SAP systems across its international operations was a major step forward for Absoft. It illustrates our capabilities – and our commitment – to deliver quality services on a global basis.
“Our new customer portfolio in 2009 has brought in extra revenue of approximately £900,000 during the year and we will look to build on that in 2010 in terms of our activities both in the North Sea and abroad.
“We are determined to build on our many years of service provision to operators and businesses across the oil & gas supply chain, helping customers use their IT systems to improve efficiency and drive costs down in these challenging economic times.”
