For the fourth year running Absoft is continuing to support Cornerstone Community Care by taking part in the Scottish charity’s annual cycle challenge.

The fifth Cornerstone Cycle Challenge runs for 21 days from 8 to 29 September. Teams will cycle as far as they can to raise sponsorship funds for adults, children and young people with disabilities and other support needs which Cornerstone supports across Scotland.

The challenge this year is to travel across the globe cycling through 20 countries and covering 18,000 miles, following the route Mark Beaumont used to break the world record for cycling around the world. There are seven legs of the tour: Paris to Istanbul; Istanbul to Calcutta; Bangkok to Singapore; Perth to Brisbane; Dunedin to Auckland; San Francisco to St Augustine and Lisbon to Paris.

Absoft has a  27-strong team competing including Managing Director, Ian Mechie, a keen cyclist who took part in an epic cross-country bike adventure in June 2007 to raise money for community projects in Africa.

He said, “This challenge is an excellent way for organisations and individual groups to increase their fitness improve their health and raise money for a good cause at the same time.
”Cornerstone will use the money raised to support people with disabilities to live independently, take part in activities they enjoy, get a job and make new friends.”

Absoft’s Team Captain, Tim Galloway said: “We raised £481.50 last year and hope to beat that!”
