Absoft has been awarded a 5-year contract worth ÂŁ175,000 to provide software development and IT infrastructure support services for leading protective clothing specialists, Multifabs Survival Limited.

Under the terms of the deal, Aberdeen-based Absoft will be responsible for rationalising and upgrading Multifabs’ IT hardware and software.  The task will include the standardisation of operating system software and desktop applications across the company, and the improvement of network performance.

A key part of the contract will see Absoft develop a new software system for Multifabs, incorporating barcode technology, to support the tracking and maintenance of survival suits.  Based on industry-standard software, the system will provide improved control and data integrity, combined with enhanced visibility of information across the business.

Multifabs’ Directors Neil Allanach and George Hutcheon are confident their company will benefit from the partnership: “Absoft have demonstrated to us that they have both the business understanding and technical skills to develop the integrated, reliable IT platform we need to support our continuing growth.  The aim is for Absoft to act as an extension of Multifabs, taking care of our IT requirements to allow us to concentrate on our core business.  We look forward to realising substantial efficiencies and enhancing our competitive advantage through this relationship.”

Ian Mechie, Absoft’s Managing Director, was delighted with the contract award: “It’s great news for Absoft.  The contract provides recognition of the range of our skills, as we expand our development capability to encompass a broader IT offering.  We look forward to applying these skills in partnership with Multifabs to help them achieve their business objectives.”

Commenting on Absoft’s performance this year, he added:  “The Multifabs contract marks another major milestone for Absoft.  We’ve experienced significant growth during 2000, securing larger projects and increasing our permanent staff to cope with higher levels of demand for our services, across our various business streams.  I’m extremely pleased with our progress.“
