Absoft offer graduates exciting employment opportunities.
Companies aiming to attract high performing graduates have one key challenge to meet – setting themselves apart from the competition by creating exciting employment opportunities which offer a diverse role and varied training programmes.
For Dominika Bednarz and Patrick Jarzylo Whistler, it was the opportunity to work for a long established and fast growing company offering valuable graduate positions that combine practical work and training which attracted them to SAP specialist Absoft.
Dominika, 26, and Patrick, 26, relocated from Poland to pursue their academic studies at Scottish universities and secured SAP consultancy traineeships in the software sector with Absoft last year after responding to the company’s annual call for graduates.
Dominika, who achieved a degree in business studies from Glasgow Caledonian University, has joined Absoft’s logistics team.
“The fact that I have come from a business background demonstrates that you don’t need IT or SAP experience to join Absoft as a graduate trainee because of the full training we are given,” says Dominika.
“Our business related degrees are important because many SAP consultants work on projects to improve HR, finance and logistics processes so it’s important to understand those business functions.
“Although Patrick and I have a business background, Absoft also offers graduate training programmes in technical consulting to IT graduates,” adds Dominika.
Headquartered in Aberdeen with offices in London and Norway, Absoft is one of the leading independent SAP business software and analytics consultancies in the UK, and was recently recognised by Best Companies for its excellence in the workplace.
Since starting with Absoft, Dominika and Patrick have had the opportunity to work on interesting projects which has given them the opportunity to build their skill base by taking on a range of tasks and responsibilities, as well as shadowing the company’s senior consultants.
“Right from the outset I was given the opportunity to work on the start of a major implementation project for Centrica which has been a great way to build on my expertise and knowledge base,” says Patrick, who graduated with a degree in management and accountancy from the University of Aberdeen and is now a trainee consultant in Absoft’s finance team.
“I have experienced every phase of the project from identifying the client’s processes and how SAP would fit in, through to the actual implementation of the SAP system. I have also had the opportunity to travel quite a bit in the role and I am currently based at the client’s site in Staines.”
Dominika has also had the opportunity to work on projects from the beginning of her career with Absoft and was involved in a major supply chain optimisation project with Dolphin Drilling, one of Absoft’s largest oil and gas customers.
“I was initially supporting experienced consultants on the project but Absoft really invests in its graduates. I have been given the chance to increase my level of responsibility from focussing on the administration to helping to manage the SAP related configuration documentation and interacting with the client.”
Both of the trainee consultants are working to achieve their SAP certifications which Absoft funds, and are following comprehensive training programmes which are designed with individual requirements in mind.
“The training programmes are tailored to our own preferences and skills, giving us the opportunity to influence our own development path,” says Dominika.
“Absoft has a very open culture and the senior consultants are extremely approachable and supportive. I have also learnt a lot from shadowing the senior team whose expertise is invaluable,” adds Patrick.
Audrey Bowker, Absoft’s HR director says: “Dominika and Patrick have made fantastic progress since starting with us as trainee consultants and are great examples of what can be achieved with our graduate programme. They demonstrate that we look for graduates from a range of backgrounds and I look forward to watching them further develop in their roles.”
