Handheld smartphone technology designed for use in safe areas on offshore assets, and oil and gas operations and maintenance issues will be the focus of a special interest group forum aimed at operators and oilfield service companies in Aberdeen this week.
Hosted by leading independent SAP consultancy and software firm Absoft, the forum, which will be held on Thursday, November 14, is aimed at key operations and maintenance decision makers in upstream oil and gas who utilise SAP Plant Maintenance systems.
The free event, which includes presentations from experienced Absoft consultants, will focus on three key topics: shutdown work order planning and management techniques, delivering effective plant maintenance training and a demonstration of how oil and gas companies can improve operational safety and reduce unplanned downtime by using Syclo on an intrinsically safe mobile device to instantly generate work orders offshore. Delegates also have opportunities to share their experience and network with other SAP users.
Scott Simpson, oil and gas business unit director at Absoft said: “When organising a forum we look to offer added value for our clients and industry colleagues. Being able to share in best practice and discuss the latest technological developments in upstream oil and gas both on and offshore is a positive opportunity for everyone involved.”
The forum, which includes a networking lunch, runs from 1.00pm to 16:00pm at Absoft’s headquarters at Davidson House, Campus 1, Aberdeen Innovation Park, Balgownie Road.
